Fannie and Paul

I was so grateful to have received this call from Fannie, asking me to photograph for them.  Life happened and their dream beach ceremony had to wait a bit….and then an opportunity presented itself to travel back to her home state of South Carolina to finally make it happen.  When she described the day and how it would go, I thought, wow.  This sounds amazing.  I couldn’t WAIT.

And I gushed.  They were so in love, with three gorgeous children and the most beautiful collection of friends and family surrounding them in a circle of hearts drawn on the beach.  See for yourself….I hope to meet more couples just like them.

Sarah and Adam, Pawleys Island

Sarah and Adam from Beckley, West Virginia.  They’d been renting the same house on Hazard Avenue right on Pawleys Island for over 5 years, and knew it was the perfect spot for their intimate union to take place.   Surrounded by family, Adam’s lifelong friend married them right out in front of the house, with their toes in the Atlantic.  It was perfect!  I was so happy she found me on the internet….and I knew I liked her just from our conversations over the phone.  I also was the hair stylist for her and my hero Ella, who also was maid of honor, best man, flower girl, and the ring bearer!!  The beautiful cake by Max at Pawleys Island Bakery.  The bouquet and boutonnieres came from Etsy artist Gina Pagano-Rose @bohemianbouquets.  Her dress also from an Etsy artist, Anna Whitley.

It was a brief day with them but I’m hoping to see them when they visit next year!  Love is in the air, in Pawleys Island.  Thank you, Sarah and Adam, for making me be a part of your amazing love day!

Ashley and Greg, Historic Downtown Wilmington

This was a beautiful midweek celebration for Ashley and Greg and about 100 of their closest family and friends.  It was a beautiful seasonal night at 128 South, a renovated 18th century space located in the historic VonKampen Building.  Behind sits the South River View Deck, overlooking the Cape Fear River.  It provided the perfect setting for their nuptials.  A beautiful environment for this amazing couple.

SBG East Coast

For 5 years, our son Dennis practiced Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with SBG East Coast, a mixed martial arts gym in Wareham, Mass.  My brother in law partnered with Stephen Whittier to bring the education and instruction to kids of all ages as well as adults to the Southeastern Coast region of Massachusetts.   As a parent observing these classes weekly, I was so impressed with the outfit not only for the martial art itself, but for the dedication of the coaches and staff manning the desk and the mats.  It always amazed me that they all knew every child’s name and acknowledged them when entering the school.  A trait I wish that I was as good.  And for sure, the gratitude I have for the teachers of lessons and techniques my son learned from these people in the last five years.  I see the benefits of his training with SBG in his daily routine…from his hand/eye coordination, self esteem, and discipline when it comes to his schoolwork and other projects.  I will forever be grateful for the impact SBG made in our lives and for our son.

Among these coaches were also competitors.  Before we left Massachusetts, I was excited to attend an event held at Tri-Force MMA, a venue that frequently holds regional and district events for both men and women.   There were 12 fights on this night, and two involved athletes trained at SBG, by Stephen (black belt) and Jeff Perez, a ranking leader and fighter in the BJJ community.  There are no words to describe the adrenaline felt running through my veins as I sat ringside watching and photographing these competitors.
